Broken Soup week 4: Word finder

I chose a couple of sentences which I thought was important to understand the message of the scene or the deeper meaning in the book. Some of them are also English  expressions. The same thing would have been expressed with different words in Swedish and therefor I thought if would be god the know these. I will also ask the group to connect the sentence with a scene in the book, to understand when it could be used.

-maybe someone else’s answer would have had more icing on, but I gave it to her pretty straight.
-she had a point
-you’re doing my head in
-she hadn’t paid the slightest bit of attention
-the paper was weighed down with stickers
-he would have laughed about it, stick two fingers down his throat.
-he let out a big long sigh
-get on with the day
-checking up
-the room has to be dismantled
-she tested it for holes and found it watertight
-we could be crumbs in a giant’s pocket
-frighteningly good at lying
-her face started to cave in
-running a family

Second, the people in my book circle, are going to explain the following words to each other without mention the word. This practices the ability to make you self understandable even if you haven't got he right word, but also your vocabulary.

piggyback
pile
melt
insane
buried
admire
giggle
grinning
peel
shoelace
retreating
sniffing
rinse
smear
quid
